He was playing on the South Bank near Blackfriars Bridge – I spoke to him because I thought there could be a link with our project – ‘Newham Mosaic – The African Diaspora’. His name is Malick Kouyate and he says that he’s been doing this all his life as he’s a Griot from Senegal. He does workshops but his fees may be above the budget I’m working with.
