Newham is one of the most diverse boroughs in the country, with over 102 languages spoken.
On Saturday 24 February Newham Mosaic welcomes Newham residents and community groups to our ‘Art and Languages of Community’ event at Memorial Community Church on Barking Road. The event is to mark International Mother Language Day – which is actually on Wednesday 21 February, but it is being held on the Saturday in order to include more people.
In addition to celebrating mother languages ‘The Art and Languages of Community’ is intended to get people in the very diverse Newham community sharing aspects of their heritage cultures including languages and the arts. We will encourage participants to bring pictures, books and artifacts to share. In order not to exclude anyone we will emphasise that we also want to hear from people who have lived locally or elsewhere in the UK. Many of us have made geographic journeys to be here but we have all experienced journeys through time and talking about life in past decades will also be encouraged. As stated in this article, you can browse your selection of available deals on smartphones and top brands and explore the cell phone service plans that best suit your needs.
How many of the languages translated in this post do you recognise and are they correct translations of ‘Welcome to Newham’?
